Vampire part: He was turned into a vampire when he was 19, which was 26 years ago. He can’t get a drink because he looks so young. He doesn’t need much sleep but still has to sleep. He doesn’t think about his safety at all because he knows he will heal, even if it hurts. He is always running around, being reckless, and since he is still not used to his speed, he ends up colliding with walls a lot.
Work related: He works at a nightclub owned by another vampire. He has worked there for 10 years already, but it never gets boring. The person who was a manager before him, Ben, was a human. Javi found him scary but respected him. The club has an old deal with a hospital, through some not so legal ways. Ben established it and Javi has to continue it, it’s how he gets blood as well. -

Work related: He does not have to work and so he doesn't. He enjoys fishing, though, and since he doesn't have to eat human food, he goes to the market and sells what he catches, or gives it away.
His backstory...
Thrain was a sea-faring Viking in his youth, nobody too important. He married a woman he was absolutely in love with, adored her. They had five children together. Then, he stopped sailing so he could be more present in their lives, he had four sons and one daughter and he wanted to teach them a lot. His kids had huge families too. He lived a life of a warrior and a father, it was a happy life.
Until he was turned into a vampire by some wandering stranger. He had fought the man but the man was much stronger and overpowered him, but he liked how strong Thrain was and so he let him alive as a vampire.
Thrain did not know what he was, only that he hungered for blood and was now violent. He could not return to his family and so he let them believe that he died on the hunt. For a while, he watched them from afar but he had to let them live their lives without the danger he possessed.
He learned more about who he was over the years. He had become a beast, in a sense, travelling the land and hunting what he could, deer, bears, people.
He met other vampires but he quickly found that he was one of the older ones and the others feared him and avoided him.
For years, he was lonely and returned home. He could see the children of his family line, still going strong. He had so many relatives now. But they were not his family, even his small settlement was long gone.
He never tried to settle down with another human, though there have been some people he was with for a while, people who were a lot like his first wife.
But still, he led a lonely existence until Aneska came into his life. They met in Oslo, both on the hunt for a meal. Around the 17th century. She was the one vampire who did not fear him. She liked how strong he was, how ancient. They became friends and occasional lovers. There was always something more between them, but they never acted on it fully. He liked to stay in Norway and Aneska was an adventurer and wanted to see the new continent.
Every time she was back, they stayed together for a while. Sometimes she appeared with another vampire with her. Unlike a lot of vampires, she liked to have people and vampires around her. She loved how important she was to all of them.
Thrain got used to it, and became reluctant friends with them too. Leonidas was the first one she brought. Thrain was jealous for a short while but quickly understood that Leo was like a son to her. The others followed as the centuries passed and Thrain turned into something of an odd uncle to them all. He was protective of them, they were like a real family to him. One that would not perish with years. He was no longer lonely, though he still liked his quiet. He did not go out into the modern world often.
He could not believe it when Leo killed Aneska but he knew Leo the longest out of all the others and knew just how bloodthirsty Leo could get. It was not that shocking, even if Leo had been gone from their lives for a while. He also saw up close how much it hurt and angered Aneska.
He is still angry at Leonidas for killing her and will never forgive him for that. Aneska was his closest confidant and lover for centuries.
He keeps up with the other vampires with an old phone. He is not that bad with technology but does not like it. -

Personality: He is a quiet guy and uses his vampire abilities well to his advantage. He can be quite the ladies' man if he wishes, he can be pretty smooth, people often think he is flirting, when it is really just the way he talks, he has no interest in romance currently. He is a true gentleman, though.

Mannerism: He smirks a lot, it's a private thing, shows how amused he is, when he so rarely speaks it.
Vampire part: He isn't actually very old, got turned during the start of WW1. He doesn't like the sunshine and tries to stay inside during the day if he can help it. The killing part and the feeding part do not bother him all that much.
Work related: He used to work on a farm as a human, hated it. He never really sought out an education in anything else. He is still not old enough to get bored of his immortality and life, so he does odd jobs when he needs money, not bothered what kind of a job it is, but he doesn't work to fill his time. Not yet.
His backstory...
Hans was a simple boy from a simple family in Germany. He was a farmer, his family owned a farm near a town and so they all did farming. At the age of 23, he was already considered rather weird for not being married. His mother was ready to set him up, but he had always craved something more. He never fancied the idea of getting married and stuck and living on the family farm his whole life. He wanted to do more. He did not like farming at all.
WWI started and Hans did not get to choose his life direction at all. He was forced to take arms and fight for his country. He only had basic education. The town and the farm were remote, he didn't even really know why he was fighting and for what, only that he had to.
He was not the best at it. The violence of it was horrible and he hated it, it did not come easy to him. He was also tall and thin and not cut out for the fights. He did not think he would make it far.
As he thought, he did not stay on the front for long. All the muscles left from his hard labour at the farm did not help him when it came to fighting skills. He nearly died during his first deployment. At the same time, a weird thing was going on in their ranks. Men were dying around the barracks, dead once they reached the first aid tents in the field hospital. That was not too surprising, though.
Hans ended in the field hospital as well, gravely injured and on the brink of death. But one nurse managed to treat his wounds enough that he still had a hope of recovering. He could not move and it would take months. Over that time, he and the nurse talked a lot when there was time and they fell in love. She was amazing, had seen so much in her life, he loved listening to her.
She turned out to be the vampire plaguing their field hospital. Despite it, she grew to like Hans and offered him an easy way out, his injuries would be gone in an instant. Afraid that he would never be able to walk again if he healed wrong, which was a big possibility, he agreed to it.
They ran away together. She taught him what to do, how to feed. She made him see what life truly had to offer. He was a deserter, though and couldn't come back to his family. They thought he was dead. A brave soldier's death.
After three decades of traveling and hunting together, she found a new guy to fall in love with and turn. Hans was so angry. He thought she was the one. He did not know how to deal with the emotions and his now long and lonely life. He coped by drinking more and more and taking pleasure in that, letting out his vampiric part more than his human one. It was the one thing that he still had power over.
He went on a bunch of killing sprees, feeding excessively. He did not care about anything, about getting caught. He thought he was invincible, that after that girl, nothing could hurt him like that. But then, Hans got caught and blamed for several murders in the UK. He did them, but would not admit it.
He was assigned a lawyer, Drucilla. She was fierce and highly capable, but disliked and so she got his case. She was also a vampire and took pity on him. She was judging him for his actions and Hans did not like her at first, thought she was acting so high and mighty, but the truth was, he desperately needed help and was not ready to admit it. She helped him anyway.
She helped him fake his death and get away. She sent him to a friend of hers, to Aneska, knowing he needed friends and community. She would join them a few years later, once she could not stay in this place.
The group became his new family, helped him emotionally. They helped him get over his first love and the betrayal, taught him how to handle the loss of a close one, since he would have to experience that often as an immortal. They helped him get back to who he was before her, helped him start enjoying life again.
He was the last one to join their little group of vampires. He highly respected Drucilla and liked Aneska well enough. He was grateful for the two of them and for all they had helped him with. Laurence was a fun guy to be around, but travelled often. He met Thrain only a few times and liked him well enough too. But he was the closest with Barbara and Leo.
When Leo left, he did not take it all that well, especially since Leo fully cut contact with them all. And then when he killed Aneska, he was surprised and could not believe it. He felt betrayed once again, but somehow he still cares about his friend. He was probably the only one who could see more to Aneska than just the amazing person. And Leo sometimes told him stuff from their past that was hard to connect with Aneska and the sort of person she liked others to see.

Work related: She is a lawyer and loves it, she can work pro-bono a lot because she does not need the money. She moves around every few years. Her work is her life, both something she is very proud of and a form of escapism for her.
Her backstory...
Drucilla was born in 1781 to a family of slaves living in America. Her life was hard and horrible. But when she was seven years old in 1788, she met Aneska Balogh. Aneska was already rich at that time and travelling through the continent. She was a friend of the wealthy man that had recently purchased Drucilla and her family. He was showing off and let Aneska see his new workforce. Aneska clearly wasn't a big fan but did not care enough to do anything about it.
Aneska stayed in the estate for a while and took a liking to one of the slaves there--a young and strong man. She bedded him and used him for her pleasure. When her departure neared, the young man begged Aneska to at least take his little sister, Drucilla, with her. To take her far away from here, somewhere safe and free, since he knew Aneska was not from around here.
Aneska had met with her and liked Drucilla. She was already bored of her lover, the brother, but Drucilla was already a girl with a sharp tongue and it delighted Aneska. Despite it all, she did feel some affection for the brother and saw the girl's potential.
She intended to find Drucilla some nice home. Drucilla did not like her at first, she had been torn from her only family, but Aneska saw it as a challenge to get the girl to like her. Which she managed eventually.
Drucilla was left in an orphanage, a nice and fancy place. Aneska had paid them enough to make sure that Drucilla would be treated right there. Drucilla even got adopted. The family treated her better than any slaver, but she was still something exotic to them, so it wasn't really better. She was treated like some doll, to be paraded. They did not have an easy time with her. But Aneska had told the orphanage that she was her godmother and sent letters to her, checked on her, and the family did not dare displease the wealthy godmother either.
She was allowed to study and sought knowledge like nothing else, seeing freedom in that. When she was of age, Drucilla left the family. She stayed in one of Aneska's many houses in Europe, in the UK. Aneska was not around as much, travelling with her vampire friends and such, but she made sure that Drucilla had all she wanted, hired her private tutors too. In a way, Aneska had grown to love Drucilla too, as much as she was capable of.
Aneska wanted to have Drucilla by her side and offered her the bite, but Drucilla was not ready for that yet. She loved her new life, the opportunities, she wanted to be somebody for all those before her who could not. Aneska was displeased by that, but let her have her life.
Drucilla started her own family. Had a husband and two sons. Aneska did not like how human she was, how she loved people, how kind and empathetic she was after everything. Aneska still saw that untapped potential in Drucilla, how strong she could be.
When Drucilla got pregnant for the third time and rather unexpectedly, she became too busy to write letter to Aneska and the vampire hated that. Drucilla was supposed to be hers. In a way, Aneska saw her as a daughter and Drucilla thought of her as a mother because of all she had done for her. But Aneska's love was never unconditional.
Aneska had never actually met Drucilla's new family, but when her letters stopped coming, Aneska made a decision. She wanted her old Drucilla back. They were holding back her beloved Drucilla and it was time to take care of it. She made sure that Drucilla was not home when she set fire to their house. Her husband and children died and it was determined to be a tragic accident. Drucilla never found out it was Aneska's doing.
Drucilla grieved and relied on Aneska for a long time after. She was devastated. Aneska helped her through it and made her a vampire. Drucilla did not have the will to resist it again. She had nothing else to live for. It was a dark period for her, but after a few years, she found herself again, now a vampire. She studied to be a lawyer, which was not easy in that time for a woman but she was also a vampire and did not let anybody stop her.
She joined Aneska's little group of vampires at some point, she did not fully fit in, disliking her vampiric traits, but they were not bad people. Especially Leo who was a little misguided. She was closest to him for a time. Then Laurence came along, who was a natural charmer and friendly. Then, Hans, who she helped save. Barbara too, who related to some of her hardships from when she was a human. They were close. They were her new family. She kept them all civilised and away from trouble as much as she could.
Until Leo left and then killed Aneska. Her mother, pretty much. Drucilla hates him for it. Does not see any justice in that, not after everything that Aneska had done for them. She thinks that Leonidas needs to pay for what he had done.
Now, she lives in the US and is a practicing lawyer. She still keeps up with her vampire friends and visits as often as she can. Her work keeps her busy and she likes that.

Work related: She got rich from the money she stole from rich lords and their households. They couldn't hurt her and she was too fast and too strong. She robbed them and then disappeared. She never had to work after that. When she had enough, she invested the money and got even richer. Before she died, she had shares in a huge amount of successful companies and more money than she could ever spend. -

She can see herself in mirrors and pictures just fine. She only needs a little bit of sleep. Her senses are enhanced, especially at night. She is stronger and faster than an ordinary human. Her skin is flawless and her incisors are retractable.
Work related: Over the years, she has accumulated a lot of wealth but doing nothing gets boring. Currently, she is a model and a pretty successful one at that. She doesn't do it for the money but for the attention. She loves nothing more than attention. She has a reputation of a primadonna within professional circles, but she doesn't care.
